25 Years Ago Today: Tony Iommi Releases Solo Debut Album With All Star Guest Vocalists
25 years ago today (10/17/00), Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi released his solo debut titled Iommi. Although some might mistake 1986’s Seventh Star as an Iommi solo album, it was still released under the Black Sabbath name. Iommi took nearly five years to make, and all of the songs were written by Iommi, producer Bob Marlette, and the respective vocalists of each track. The lineup of vocalists includes: Ozzy Osbourne, Henry Rollins, Billy Idol, Dave Grohl, Phil Anselmo, Serj Tankian, Peter Steele, Ian Astbury, and Billy Corgan .
