50 years ago today (8/4/72), the movie Super Fly was released a blaxploitation crime film directed by Gordon Parks Jr. and starring Ron O’Neal. However of most significance was the soundtrack by Curtis Mayfield which becomes a renowned soul album, with drug culture innuendo and commentary that made it one of 70’s most successful soundtracks as it outgrossed its respective film.
