50 years ago today (8/22/75), The Allman Brothers Band released their fifth studio album Win, Lose or Draw. Following the huge success of Brothers and Sisters (1973), which had carried them to the top of the rock world with the hit “Ramblin’ Man”, Win Lose or Draw was more of a mixed bag as a reslt of band member deaths (Duane Allman and Berry Oakley) and growing creative and personal issues within the existing band. Musically, Win, Lose or Draw is a more subdued and blues-heavy record than its predecessor, with the highlight being Dicky Betts’ instrumental “High Falls” stretching out to over 14 minutes in the tradition of their expansive jams. Check out the prementioned expansive gem….
