Happy 75th Birthday to Doug Pinnick (born 9/3/50), bassist, lead vocalist, and founder of King’s X. Hard to believe he’s 75, yet Pinnick has been a cult fave for over 40 years now. With King’s X (formed in 1979 but gaining traction in the late ’80s), Pinnick helped pioneer a style that blurred boundaries: progressive enough to attract Rush and Yes fans, heavy enough for the metal crowd, and soulful enough to attract curious listeners. Albums like Gretchen Goes to Nebraska (1989) and Faith Hope Love (1990) cemented their cult status. Watch King’s X live in 1999 from Rockpalast.
